Does Ron Paul have a shot at getting the Republican nomination?

36% say ‘Maybe, but probably not.’

By Cowboy 15 Rating The President`s job is to take care of America first Frighton. FTW. That`s something that`s been missing in a President the last 23 years. So what if we pull out of some seventh century civil war? It`s not America`s problem.

By Cowboy 13 Rating At least we know Ron Paul won`t send soldiers to Uganda, give US guns to the Mexican drug cartels so they can kill a border agent and blame it on US gun shops, and he wouldn`t give Al-Qeada and the Muslim brotherhood supplies and money so they can inslave their people with Shariah law in Tunisia, Libya and Egypt. Why does the US need a brand new military base in Australia now? Support the troops. Bring them home!

By Frighton 11 Rating Nope. His libertarian views are great until you get to foreign policy. Then it looks like waving a big white flag to the world. No thanks on that.

By Cowboy 9 Rating He`s running a close second depending on which poll you believe. He`s the only one that makes any sense. I hope he gets it, for America`s sake.

By Biggysmallz501 7 Rating I hope he wins, IMO best candidate.

By Cowboy 5 Rating Well that`s awfully nice of you Avery.

By brunodpnunes 3 Rating Yeah, Ron Paul maybe is the only one who could attempt to free the US liberty locked by seven keys kept on the pockets of lobbyists in Congress. Be free is not been involved on every war out there, the real hero is the one who isn`t involved in any war, either because he doesn`t attack anyone, but especially because nobody has reasons or will to attack him. It requires courage to break this stereotype that is messed up with the true spirit of US, founder fathers stuff, but no, not really. The good guy is not the one who bully the small one. It is a difficult thing to accomplish. If here on ivote he is already been attaching of bowing the white flag to other countries, imagine then what neocons and GOP`s in general would say… Thats why he doesn`t have any chance, the Reps who profit from the things like they are now would work against him and give the reelection to Obama on a silver plate.

By Tcat21 3 Rating Although he is the most consistent candidate in the field, and sometimes makes the most sense, there is a pretty low ceiling to his support. It will never get into the twenty percentile. He may win under the caucus set-up in Iowa, but once actual voting starts there is no way he can win.

By TransAm 3 Rating I hope not. Some of the things he says scare me

By Averyzephyr 2 Rating Cowboy if I had a spare billion dollars I would give it to you to run against Obama, I really would.

By Ace21 -13 Rating He`s a total joke. But not unlike the rest of those clowns

By Mmm -9 Rating The question should be can he beat Obama! Nomination should go to anyone who can beat Obama.

By Caelan -6 Rating He gets a little weak for foreign policy, but the rest of his ideals aren`t too bad.

By Jungletoe -5 Rating @Fright, so you think we should continue to put American lives at steak in the Middle East just so that we don`t look like a bunch of wimps? Paul is the only serious one in the bunch. The rest are either neo-cons or plain idiots.

By kut19 -4 Rating Honestly? I think anyone running for the Republican nomination would be leaps and bounds better than Obama (except, perhaps, Huntsman). I can`t wait to see how the mainstream media tries to elect Obama in 2012. He`s given them very little to work with.

By Cowboy -3 Rating Of course Paul could beat Obama. The GOP candidates just need to stop letting the looney leftists moderate their debates and talk about what`s important to them. I could beat Obama if I had a billion dollar election fund. It really wouldn`t be difficult. Has any of the leftist moderators mentioned “Fast and Furious”? Promoting the “Arab spring”? Promoting the Communist protesters in America? Helping Al-Qeada and the Muslim brotherhood in the Middle East? The cost of Romney/Obamacare? The inconstancies in the Osama Bin Laden raid? I`d love it if one of these candidates tells the leftist moderator to shut her, or his mouth and let`s get serious. This is for the President of the United States of America for Pete`s sake. Somebody should start acting like it. Instead of being talked down to by some newsreader in the media.

By Wertyio -2 Rating Ron Paul starts out great on any issue, but the longer he talks the more you realize he`s a lunatic. He`d probably be the nominee if he`d keep his comments short. You also have to remember that the nut doesn`t fall from the tree, then look at Rand Paul… I need say no more.

By Cowboy -2 Rating Hell I could beat Obama if I had a billion dollars too. It`s not fair! How come Obama gets to spend a billion dollars on a election and I can`t!? Waaaaaaaaaaaaa! Awaaaaaaaaaaa! IT`S NOT FAIR! Obama should redistribute his campaign funds equally among the other candidates! After all, that would be the fair thing to do.

By Makena -1 Rating Ron Paul 2012 :)

By Averyzephyr 1 Rating I`ve got mixed feelings about Ron Paul. I agree about a lot of what he says about foreign policy and non interventionism. But I don`t agree with his extension of these ideas into a radical isolationism. And I take serious issue with his domestic ideas. I think the country needs to move forward, not backwards.

  19. Leonel says:

The thing with Ron Paul is that he`s too extreme. He`s in the right direction but his view points on certain issues are just insane so he won`t be reelected. Americans don`t care if you give us a 14 trillion dollar surplus, if you support the legalization of heroin and believe that sanctions are an act of war and we should not use them on Iran. At least he`s not calling for the shutdown of the DOJ like other “libertarian constitutionalists” cause “it`s not in the constitution”

  20. Axelrod says:

He`s nothing more than an anarchist. So no.

  21. Makena says:

  22. TransAm says:

  23. Kermie says:

So far no one has answered the question. He`s got momentum in Iowa and Gingrich is dropping. If he wins there he will probably get at least second in NH and Nevada and a huge flux of cash from his rabid supporters. Then he`ll be in it for the long haul. Definitely a decent chance he could win. I don`t think he will, but it`s possible.

  24. Wertyio says:

As I said in another thread, I think after Newt has his (reprised) moment in the Sun (seems like it`s gonna be another brief one, too), Ron Paul will get his peak. More like a plateau. Then he`ll burn out. Then it will be a few weeks of Paul and Newt waffling back and forth with Mitt. Ultimately, I think Mitt`s gonna be it, though I cringe at the thought of it. I still think Huntsman just might have a turn. Santorum is as good as out. Bachmann…. LOL… Bachmann… Oh, that`s a good one… Excuse me. I can`t finish typing. I`m laughing too hard.

  25. DrDoom says:

It`s sad to say this but it doesn`t matter who wins the nomination because with the economy improving and the troops in Iraq coming home I think Obama will win a second term.
